Mondays

Everyone complains about Mondays, & given the proper situation I will too.  In an attempt to change this “stinkin thinkin”  I’ve decided to list what I am the most thankful for on Monday.

 I’m thankful for

  • a husband who does dishes & cooks for me while I am sick
  • that I feel better
  • God’s mercies are new every morning…..I can start over.
  • my computer
  • my new bible (new living translation)  I LOVE IT!!!!!
  • teenagers that have jobs
  • cherries are in season
  • our business is busy!

Parkinson’s

My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease yesterday.  It is almost a relief.  I had been so afraid that is was Alzheimer’s.  The thought of your own mind betraying you & not knowing who you are is frightening.  It was a fearful thing to think about for my wonderful Pop.  I’ve been praying that God would be merciful.  That my dad would not have to suffer & not know anything or who he was.

My Papa told me last night that Parkinson’s was just one step closer to being with the Lord.  He said that all that he had to do was make sure that his heart was right with the Lord  & then just keep on living.  That is trust!

We thank You, O God!  We give thanks because You are near!     Psalm 75:1

Because God is near I can still praise Him—even through Parkinson’s!

Who I Am

I often question God about His love for me.  I know me……I’m hard to love sometimes (just ask my teenagers).  I’m not blind to my sins & faults (just not willing to let them go).  I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but sometimes I don’t feel like I deserve God’s love.  After all, I continue to fail……..

Occasionally when I can’t sleep, or when I am afraid, I begin to list the names of God & meditate on Him & His attributes.  I go in alphabetical order & I have rarely had to worry about Q.  It really helps.  Last night it finally hit me!!!!!!   An epiphany!!!!!

It’s not about who I am…..but WHO HE IS!  My sin is gone, but he remains:

Happy Fourth!

I love the Fourth of July! Deep down I am really patriotic.  Yes, I am a “flag waving, stand for the National Anthem, hand over your heart American”.  I love America & all that it stands for.  I am so thankful that I got the priviledge to grow up here.  To see freedom with my own eyes, & to joyfully worship without fear.

Freedom comes with a price.  Our forefathers fought for freedom because they knew the “Author of Freedom”.   Thank You God for putting that dream in their heart.
